With a lot of crime happening under the cover of darkness, IR (infrared)/ Night-Vision CCTV is essential. IR cameras help you see in the dark when you can't. They have the ability to see in low, and no light (0 Lux). Infrared cameras have IR LEDs positioned around the outer edges of the camera lens which gives the camera its "Night Vision".
Infrared Cameras can capture acceptable video in total darkness and even better quality video in low light. Even a small amount of ambient light helps the overall night vision capability of IR cameras a lot. This can be in the form of nearby street lighting or even motion sensor lights. This should however be discussed during a site survey prior to installation.
Choosing the right quality camera can be a minefield for anyone who is unsure about CCTV equipment. Smart Connect are happy to come out and visit you on site to discuss your requirements. We do however provide the best quality cameras at the best possible price.
Here are a few options to consider when choosing your new CCTV system:
• Price.
• Distance to the area you're looking to record.
• Are you using it as a deterrent or complete facial recognition?
• How many hours are you looking to record before content is over-written?
IP or Digital (also referred to as Analogue CCTV) - What's the difference, and what's best for me? It's a question that we get asked a lot. Unfortunately we wouldn't be able to give you a definitive answer without viewing your premises first - however here are a few things you should know:
Theres a wide range of CCTV camera styles, the main three categories however are: Dome, Bullet and PTZ.
Dome cameras are generally mounted on a ceiling or side wall mounted for areas such as alleyways. These can be found in vandal-proof variations and the lenses are generally protected by the dome.
Bullet CCTV cameras are your traditional style camera. They're fixed cameras and can be pole-mounted, wall-mounted and can also be ceiling-mounted. They're a versatile camera but can sometimes be prone to vandalism unless positioned up high.
PTZ (pan-tilt-zoom) cameras come in different variations however their main function is that the lens and the cameras direction can be moved, focused and monitored from another device such as a computer, monitoring station or mobile device.
